Martha J. Miller

I write about the places where food and culture meet. As a West Virginia native and Virginia resident, I've spent most of my life living in the American South, but have had the opportunity to feel at home in Italy and Peru, too.

My writing and recipes have appeared in print and online for Oxford AmericanGarden & GunNational GeographicThe Washington Post and the Southern Foodways Alliance.

From Bali's street markets to Virginia's cheese-making nuns to Appalachia's pepperoni rolls, I cover the far-flung and the close to home around the stove.

I have an MA in Writing from Johns Hopkins University and after 10 years living in Washington, D.C., I am happy to call Richmond, Virginia home again.

*I welcome emails about story leads and travel opportunities, but I do not promote products in return for payment.
